Royal Amateur Wind Orchestra of Utrecht
Welcome to the website of “Muziekvereniging KUDO” Here you can find
some information about our orchestra (muziekvereniging). The
orchestra has the Dutch name: “Koninklijk Utrechts Dilettanten
Orkest” in abbreviation it says: KUDO. In English you’d call us the
Royal Amateur Wind Orchestra of Utrecht, but we like to keep it
simple: just KUDO!
The Wind Orchestra
The orchestra rehearses from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday
evening. The rehearsals are held at the “Muziekhuis Lombok” in
Utrecht. The orchestra consists of enthousiastic musicians of all
ages.
The wind orchestra is not a marching band. You can see and hear us
play outdoors, but we don’t march. Our repertoire is very diverse.
On our music stands you’ll find a classical overture as well as a
pop song and a swing hit as well as a piece originally written for
wind orchestras and concert bands.
You’re welcome to join our orchestra if you play an instrument that
fits in the wind orchestra (concert band):
flute and piccolo / oboe / bassoon / clarinets / saxophones / french
horn / trumpet / trombone / euphonium (tuba) / bass tuba /
double-bass (contra bass) / drum set / timpani and mallet percussion
On some occasions the orchestra can provide you with an instrument
on loan.
Concerts and Performances
Every year we organize several performances. Besides our annual
concert, we perform in shopping centers, elderly homes and at
sporting events. We also participate in the activities around
“Koninginnedag” (Queens Day - 30th of April) and the commemoration
of the Second World War and celebrating the country's liberation on
the 4th and 5th of May. Furthermore we try to organize a Christmas
concert every year.
Joining the Orchestra
If you’re interested in joining the orchestra, please visit a
rehearsal. You’ll notice that in our orchestra musicality goes along
with sociability. If you want to visit a rehearsal, please make an
appointment with our secretary. You can also contact her for more
information.
